  • Assists counter servers in greeting customers, taking orders, ringing food and beverage purchases into cash register, collecting payment from customers and making change, assembling order and checking for completeness and correctness, and packing orders for on-premise or take –out dinning.
  • Participates in preparation, cooking and wrapping of food.
  • Generates or collects and reviews daily and weekly business reports completed by shift and assistant managers for compliance with standards, to track and forecast sales, to determine cash flow, and to plan purchase of supplies and foodstuff. May use computers in generation and analysis of reports.
  • Coordinates and supervises the cleaning and maintenance of the facilities and equipment.

Primary Function:
Manages the operation and enhancement of the Power Test Lab at Eaton Horseheads. Applies expert and seasoned technical knowledge concerning vacuum interrupters and electrical power systems and standards to the following functions
- To advance the development of the vacuum interrupter (VIs) product line by assisting the R&D and Design personnel with the testing of vacuum interrupters and the interpretation of test data.
- To advance the operation of the lab through development and implementation of test procedures and the definition and acquisition of capital equipment for the lab to improve performance.
- To advance the application of the vacuum interrupter product line to existing customers, new customers and to other Eaton product lines including low voltage and high voltage switchgear business, and the Eaton contactor business. It also requires that this same level of expertise be available to customers of the VI product line to enable them to develop their new products with the Eaton VI.
- To advise the Eaton Horseheads production team on manufacturing and production testing issues
- To lead and participate in international standards development for electrical power switchgear, especially as they involve the application of vacuum interrupters.

Essential Functions:
A. Leads the total Eaton effort in the testing and application of VIs for new products and applications. Establishes the current and voltage ranges in which VIs can be applied.
B. Plans the operation and the schedule for the Horseheads High Power Test Lab to accommodate the testing of new VI designs, of new VI applications, customer prototype switching systems and new Eaton switch designs. Regularly prepares timely reports on test program status.
C. Identifies and acquires new technology to improve laboratory operations.
D. Originates advanced R&D projects into new test methods and VI application areas.
E. Drives the application of the VI across the Global Eaton product range as an active consultant and technical expert to the various Eaton development and engineering groups.
F. Prepares archival quality scientific papers for presentation at scientific conferences and for publication in technical and scientific journals.
G. Communicates effectively with Eaton management and engineers and with customers, and scientific peers and others utilizing the most appropriate media whether electronic, audio-visual, hard copy, lab demonstrations or other means.

Incumbent will conduct research on the genetic basis and control of root system architecture in important cereal crops (maize, rice, sorghum). This will involve 2D digital imaging and image analysis of cereal root systems and subsequent 3D root system architecture (RSA) reconstruction and analysis using methods recently developed in the Kochian lab (RootReader2D and RootReader 3D platforms). The 3D root system architecture reconstructions will then be quantified for a range of global, dynamic, and/or root specific traits for joint genome-wide association and bi-parental mapping of RSA traits.  Furthermore, incumbent will collaborate with others in the research team working on existing genetic mapping data (genome-wide association and bi-parental QTL analysis) for rice RSA to go from QTL to gene for specific RSA traits, and to determine if specific RSA traits contribute to improve plant performance under stressful soil conditions (drought, P deficiency, N limitation).

This position requires a recent Ph.D in plant physiology, plant molecular biology, plant genetics, biological engineering, computational biology or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

 

Knowledge of cloning and characterization of plant genes, plant genetic mapping, computer analysis of digital images or bioinformatics is desirable. Also, experience and knowledge of computer programming is desirable.
