Job Title:  Software Developer

Reports To:  Lead Software Developer

 

INTRODUCTION

The primary job of the web developer is to assist in designing, coding, and testing of technical solutions. They should understand standard systems development and software development life cycle processes. They should be able to perform and execute the plans and coding standards as defined by management and work under deadlines.

 

HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES:

At the highest level, the Web Developer is responsible for the following activities...

• Project Execution


• Solution Development and Delivery

 

IN DEPTH  BREAKDOWN OF RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES:

Project Execution

• Ability to understand project and development plans and is able to clearly articulate roles, project goals and timelines


• Understands the necessity of and contributes to coding standards


• Accurately employs company development tools


• Assists in enforcement of development deadlines and schedules


• Prioritizes multiple tasks effectively

 

Solution Development and Delivery

• Understands technical and functional design requirements


• Assists in physical and logical database design


• Assists in the design, coding, and testing of web solutions


• Identifies system deficiencies and recommends solutions

 

REQUIRED CORE COMPETENCIES INCLUDES:

Communication

• Listens to and accepts input from team members


• Ability to clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally


• Accurately prepares written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging

 

Relational Databases

Understands basic relational database concepts

 

Architecture

• Cursory knowledge of 3 tiered web applications and web services architectures


• Cursory knowledge of object oriented programing and component based methodologies


• Cursory knowledge ASP .NET

 

Technologies

• Programming languages: Classic ASP, VB .NET


• Scripting languages: VBScript, JQuery, JavaScript


• Web interface languages: HTML, CSS


• MS SQL Server and JET DB integration, ADO.NET


• Com objects, Active X

• Associate’s Degree or higher is required


• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role is preferred

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in fast paced dynamic environment


• Strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills


• Strong decision making and problem solving skills
