Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for peer evaluations of completed Family Planning Benefit Program applications and missing information documents for accuracy in accordance with Federal and State regulations and department approved Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for entering and submitting error findings using department specific Quality Control tools.
  • Complete the application process for all inaccurate or incomplete FPBP Applications, Presumptive Eligibility requests and missing information tasks reviewed.
  • Provide feedback to quality control supervisor(s) giving specific reasons for variances, and respond to dispute findings when necessary.
  • Meet and maintain quality control standards as set by the quality control department.
  • Meet and maintain production standards as set by the quality control department.
  • Maintain confidentiality pertaining to the assessment of the tasks processed by FPBP Specialists.
  • Remain up-to-date on policies and procedures as set by the quality control department.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.
  • Position Overview:
    The New York State Department of Health has contracted with MAXIMUS to support the development and operations of a centralized statewide Enrollment to process applications and renewals for a portion of those eligible for New York States public health insurance programs. The Enrollment Center augments the role of the local Departments of social services by providing additional capacity for the processing of enrollment and renewals, among other responsibilities. This particular position will primarily be working with the states Family Planning Benefit Program, which is for women and men of childbearing age who need family planning services. Applicants must meet program guidelines to qualify.

    The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education, Experience, and Abilities:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certification; previous experience in customer service, preferably in a Call Center, human services, health care or service related field.
  • Understand of the needs and problems of disadvantaged populations.
  • Ability to interpret and follow policy and procedure guidelines.
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer with strong data entry and telephone skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A background in eligibility determination or a related field and bilingual capabilities is preferred.

    Education Required: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience

    Technical Skills / Knowledge Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

    Subject Matter Expertise/Experience Required: Four years related experience
    Subject Matter Expertise/Experience Preferred: Four to eight years professional/related experience

    Personal/Soft Skills: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline oriented work environment, ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously, and ability to work as a team member, as well as independently.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    1. Review, evaluate, and modify existing and proposed programs
    2. Assess the effectiveness of programs developed and/or administered and develop a means of measuring such effectiveness
    3. Monitors assigned functions, completes monitoring reports, and provides feedback to staff and/or management as appropriate
    4. Researches issues, recommends preventive measures and participates in the development of changes
    5. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key external and internal customers
    6. Communicate with customers, technical and non-technical staff
    7. Perform other duties as assigned by Management
