Job Description
Operates, maintains, repairs the Banks heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical systems within
the Banks owned and leased facilities. May also be asked to assist in general laborer, carpentry, painting, masonry,
electrical, and mechanical tasks requiring little or no trade specific skills.
There are currently opportunities in our New York and East Rutherford, NJ locations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates, maintains and repairs the Banks heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical systems to provide a comfortable working environment in the Banks owned and leased facilities.
- Maintains and repairs HVAC systems to provide specific environmental conditions for numerous computer rooms located in the Bank.
- Repairs, replaces, or relocates various HVAC systems, including electrical controls, in response to building renovations or upgrading of HVAC equipment. Responds to calls throughout the Bank from employees reporting uncomfortable temperatures; troubleshooting HVAC equipment to locate problems, and makes necessary repairs.
- Maintains and repairs refrigeration equipment, steam lines and traps for food service areas.
- Maintains and repairs hot and cold water supplies and drinking coolers throughout the Bank.
- Operates computer terminals/software to check the operation of equipment and machinery including the Banks building management systems for owned and leased facilities. Also must be able to operate and interact with the Banks computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Fabricates sheet metal duct components, retrofits piping and rebuilds pumps for installation on HVAC systems when needed.
- Responds to emergency alarms in the systems as instructed by the Watch Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer.
- Trains less experienced engineers in the operation, maintenance and repair of the Banks power plant equipment and systems and assigns, guides and reviews their work.
- As required, assist in general laborer, carpentry, painting, masonry, electrical, and mechanical tasks requiring little or no trade specific skills.

EQUIPMENT USED:
- Hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills and hammers; refrigeration gauges, compressors, condensers, pumps
- valves, motors and various electrical meters and precise measuring devices.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent walking, standing and bending; work is frequently performed in awkward positions. Requires lifting heavy tools,
chemicals and equipment.
Job Requirements
Knowledge/Experience:
Trade school certification or equivalent work experience with five years minimum work experience, and fire safety director, and universal EPA Clean Air, and a torch and welding certification.
Knowledge/Abilities:
- In-depth, expert knowledge of HVAC systems.
- n-depth knowledge of trouble shooting electrical controls and be able to read and understand schematic wiring diagrams
- related to HVAC equipment.
- Working knowledge of electrical and life/safety - Requires the ability to work from diagrams and drawings and use tools of
- the trade proficiently.
- Good technical and PC skills including working knowledge of electronic mail, word processing, and spreadsheet
- applications.
- Able to work day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
