A blood bank is now seeking a Medical Lab Technologist for a temporary 6 month position. The qualified professional will perform the technical procedures involved in the operation of a Transfusion Service and perform all activities related to patient testing and processing of blood products in preparation for issue to patients.

Job Description
This role is responsible for:
- Performing type and screen testing, crossmatching, and antibody identification
- Thawing Fresh Frozen Plasma and cryoprecipitate
- Pooling platelets
- Providing blood components intended for transfusion in accordance with cGMP as required by the NYSDOH, FDA, AABB, CAP and NYBC
- Calculating and preparing blood for exchange transfusion
- Logging in and retyping blood product
- Other special projects and duties as required
Required Skills
- NYSDOH technologist requirements met
- New York license
- Computer literate
- Ability to use and familiarity with cell washers, blood irradiators, and plasma thawers $
