Organization: In 1876 the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill NY were founded to serve the needs of the immigrant population of New York City, particularly homeless children and women. Since that time the sisters have been active in the fields of education, pastoral care, social work and nursing in the United States and abroad. Position: Director of Communications/Public Relations
Position Summary: Works closely with the Leadership Team and other key personnel in advancing the mission of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill. Responsible for internal and external communications of the congregation. Develops and implements strategies for all communications, website, public relations and social media.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates the flow of information through electronic communications, print media, multi-media, press releases, web streaming and various forms of social media
Provides on-going documentation of congregational life and mission
Represents the congregation for intercommunity publications and communications
Establishes, fosters and manages relationships with media
Creates and distributes press releases, announcements and other articles of interest to the media
Oversees web design, development and management of congregational website
Serves as a resource person in matters of communication and public relations
Researches new and innovative communication strategies for external and internal communication
Supports the congregation in areas related to communication
Works with IT personnel to manage and enhance technology needs in Dominican Convent
Operates, maintains and prepares multi-media equipment for congregational and public events
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor degree, Masters degree preferred, in Communications or related field
- Experience in the field of multi-media, website design and social media
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to proofread material and perform research
- Works independently, collaboratively and creatively to meet deadlines
- Maintains confidentiality
- Some relevant experience and understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and Religious Life
Salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 based on experience and education. Excellent employer paid benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays and retirement plan.
