The Senior Linux Engineers role will be to produce and continually improve on deployment automation and to work directly with the teams deploying new services for our clients.
This position will be responsible for a combination of system administration and platform engineering and will provide an opportunity to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, supporting clients deploying a wide range of business critical applications. As a member of the senior engineering team, this individual will help drive the design of the system architecture and actively prepare for new technical implementations (hardware, platform, product and service deployments) as well as provide client support for service related issues as escalated from Tier1 / Tier2 response team.
The individual will collaborate with other Senior Engineers and our R&D team to continue finding new areas that can be improved by bringing a DevOps mindset to all of the areas they manage - including public cloud offering, private clouds, monitoring solutions, backup systems, server images and highly available clusters.

Qualifications:

The Senior Engineers play a critical role in the success of the clients and are called upon to not only design and support the right solutions but also effectively communicate the recommended solutions in a consultative role for each client in person, by phone and email. Therefore, all successful candidates will possess a high degree of self-management, personal accountability, strong communication and business acumen.

Key Requirements:

  • 5+ years Linux System administration and engineering experience, RedHat Linux ES 5 and 6 preferred but not required

  • Well versed in internet architectures, including web, application, and database components such as Apache, memcache, MySQL

  • Deep Familiarity with automation, virtualization and cloud platforms such as VMware, AWS, Xenserver and KVM, OpenStack, Cloudstack

  • Recent DevOps focus with puppet and/or chef experience

  • Understanding of firewalls, NAT and packet filtering (specifically Iptables)

  • Experience with application load balancing solutions for scaling and HA

  • Experience with SANs and NAS including iSCSI, NFS (Isilon) and FC

  • Medium to High level scripting skills (Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.)

  • General Networking skills required (Layer 2 & 3 switches, TCP/IP, SNMP, etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate with customers, vendors and partners, and across all levels of the organization
