Clinical Educator (NY/NJ) at New York

Job Description

This role will cover all of NY and NJ.

This individual will clinically support Thoratecs Ventricular Assist Device Systems and provide training, inservice support and clinical assistance for new and existing Thoratec customers, potential customers and Thoratec field team members. Communicates regularly with management to keep them informed of what is being observed in the field relative to Thoratec and competitors. This position reports to the assigned Clinical Manager.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Support the Clinical Consultants in the assigned territory to assist implanting centers with clinical in-services and staff competency education.
  • Deliver professional level instruction to customers on Thoratec products per the approved educational materials, Best Practices, and IFUs.
  • Work closely with key customers to evaluate clinical and educational needs of assigned implanting centers.
  • Develop creative initiatives aimed to assist assigned implanting centers with managing an increasing number of patients.
  • Assist with the development and execution of action plans to address the following areas of educational need:
  • Sub-Acute, Inpatient Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Centers, Emergency Medical Systems Personnel, Community Cardiologists, Primary Care Physicians, and community hospitals.
  • Serve as a point of contact and reference to facilitate patients being discharged to the community in the assigned territory.
  • Coordinate monthly metrics/report out to VAD Director/Designee at lead center.
  • Assists new startup implanting centers with initial training and educational needs.
  • Assist with the development of initiatives to improve clinical results at assigned VAD centers.
  • Professional and timely communication with customers, including scheduling, function execution and follow up.
  • Effective and timely management of territory clinical education issues and process related issues including: weekly report, expense management, Concur expense reporting, action plans, Salesforce database input, and monthly reporting.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with: Territory, Clinical, Market Development, Training and Education, Marketing, Technical Support, and Field Management team.
  • Awareness and adherence to Advamed guidelines.
  • Ability to work effectively from a home office base and must provide the majority of their own typing, filing, and communications support.
  • Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Nursing or some other medical discipline.
  • Three to five years of experience in a clinical or business setting.
  • Must be able to travel in the U.S. and internationally (up to 75% travel).

Additional Qualifications:

  • Graduate Degree desirable. Background in Nursing, Circulatory Support or Cardiology
    Cardiac Care experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrate a great desire to help others, remain composed under stress and be well organized.
  • Maintains a good driving record
  • Nursing (ICU or CCU), clinical publications, and group presentations experience desirable.
