Job Description
SUMMARY OF THE JOBThis position is responsible for planning and executing the development of test equipment that will be used to test Moog products, in accordance with applicable Moog processes, and within the cost and schedule constraints established in the project plan.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
1. Generate one or more design concepts that will meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements provided by lead project engineer. Elicit requirements where they are incomplete. Identify any requirements that are conflicting, ambiguous, or that cannot be tested as defined. Develop high-level design concepts, work with stakeholders to review tradeoffs, and select the optimum design.
2. Perform the detailed electronic test system design using off-the-shelf test equipment and any required custom electronics. Implement the selected detailed design, directing the efforts of procurement, fabrication, and/or subcontractors to meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements. The incumbent is not expected to be an expert in all areas of electronic design (analog, digital, firmware, software) and will therefore require support from other designers.
3. Be responsible for creation and release of all required documentation verification plans, assembly drawings, schematics, interconnect diagrams, software documentation.
4. Track costs during project execution to maintain control of project budget. Identify out-of-scope change requests to the lead project engineer and program manager, and obtain agreement prior to making any changes to project baseline. Understand project risks and modify plans when issues arise. Identify issues that will impact project outcome to Test Equipment Manager and Project Engineer.
5. Perform verification testing of the fabricated equipment to demonstrate that the requirements have been met. Document this testing in order to satisfy internal Moog requirements, as well as external/contractual requirements.
6. Represent Moog when required, to provide information about the test equipment design on a specific project. Requires skill in communicating technical information to internal & external customers.
7. Review customer specifications & consult with lead project engineer to generate comprehensive cost estimates, including the effort required from engineering and other support functions. Examples: development lab technicians, calibration, drafters, software developers, subcontractors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Technology degree in the field of Electrical Engineering, plus a minimum of 5 years hands on experience in the design/development/test of electronic test equipment.
CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Due to U.S. Government and Military contracts candidates must be either a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S. Desired behavioral competencies include: Innovation, adaptability, decision making, communications, customer focus, building strategic working relationships, energy, initiating action, quality orientation, managing work.
Basic technical competency required in Project Management.
Intermediate technical competency required in Applied Science, knowledge of Customer Technology, Data Acquisition, Diagnostic Skills, Document Interpretation, and Engineering & Technology.
Advanced technical competency required in Computer Applications, Document Creation, and Math.FURTHER SIGNIFICANT POINTS REGARDING THE CONTENT OR CONTEXT OF THE JOB Occasional Travel, approximately 6 times a yearOccasional lifting of Test Equipment 5- 45 lbs.
