Sr. Consultant, Enterprise Architecture at Purchase

Job Description

Job Overview: The primary role of an Enterprise Business Architect - Senior Consultant is to contribute to the development of companys business architecture practice. This person aligns strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding products and services; partners and suppliers; organization; capabilities; and key business and IT initiatives. Enterprise Business Architect work s with other Enterprise architects to influence business and IT decision makers on how IT plans and executes change on behalf of the business. This role will develop an integrated view of the enterprise using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques. The primary focus is the business motivations, business outcomes and business analysis frameworks and related networks that link these aspects of the enterprise together Major Accountabilities: Build and maintain strong ongoing relationships with key business partners and portfolio managers associated with each business segment Continually communicate and build consensus on enterprise business architecture with both IT and business partners Collaborate with business partners early in the product development life cycle for strategic efforts to provide an IT perspective and inform business architecture and technology platform plans Contribute to the effort to incrementally develop a fully documented enterprise business architecture and continually refresh it Support the necessary ongoing efforts to incorporate the documented enterprise business architecture into organizational culture Identify and validate business value of new and emerging trends and technologies in the context of the overall enterprise business architecture Contribute to ongoing technology investment planning for IT portfolio domains based on the needs identified in the future state business architecture. Work though others at every level of the organization soliciting strategic imperatives from senior leaders and executives, and supporting business unit managers as they leverage business architecture artifacts to create their business plans. Develop a business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations. Apply a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the enterprise. Capture the tactical and strategic enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance. Describe the primary business capabilities of the enterprise and distinguish between customer-facing, supplier-related, business execution and business management capabilities. Define the set of strategic, core and support processes that transcend functional and organizational boundaries; identify and describe external entities such as customers, suppliers, and external systems that interact with the business; and describe which people, resources and controls are involved in the processes. Define the information concepts shared across the enterprise and the relationships between those information concepts. Education (preferred): Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, engineering, Information Systems or Business. Advanced degrees desired Knowledge / Experience (preferred): 8 to 12 years related experience (IT, Banking, Financial, Payments) Minimum of 5 years in an Enterprise Architecture capacity within a large company Experience in mobile and e-commerce technologies preferred Experience with defining and leading the execution of transformational efforts Proven experience developing enterprise business architecture Strength in all domains across the enterprise with deep expertise in 2 or more business technology domains Experience leveraging a variety of frameworks and methods to develop and promote architecture. Experience driving strategic alignment of IT with the business. Experience creating a common architecture vision with IT and line of business leaders. Experience defining processes for IT governance. Demonstrated ability to develop technology strategies that support IT and business strategies Experience identifying, analyzing, and proposing IT investment opportunities. Experience in the discovery, analysis, and application of industry trends. Experience facilitating cross functional teams and building consensus. Skills / Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively communicate abstract concepts in verbal and written, and visual forms Ability to translate between technical and business language and concepts A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance The ability to recognize structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies Ability to effectively collaborate in a geographically distributed environment Ability to develop a strategic direction and lead in areas that have a high degree of ambiguity Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of business and IT stakeholders at all levels Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus Strong situational analysis and decision making abilities Demonstrated thought leadership on major strategic or transformational efforts Working Conditions: Limited travel Typically Monday Friday flexible working hours
