Technical Trainer - System Operator Trainer at Rensselaer

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state. The NYISOs System Operator Training department invites applications for a full-time System Operator Trainer.

The System Operator Trainer creates and delivers power system operations training for NYISO operations staff and other operating entities within New York. Training is delivered in classroom, simulation, computer based and OJT formats. Instruction is provided in self study, one-on-one, small group and large group forums.

The successful candidate will schedule, research, design, prepare, deliver, evaluate and document NYISO training activities in compliance with the NERC Continuing Education program. In addition the System Operator Trainer evaluates and recommends materials, instruction systems and formal courses that will enhance the effectiveness of NYISO Operations training

Qualifications include: Bachelors degree preferred; Associates degree (AS, AAS in related technical field of study) from accredited college required. NERC Reliability Coordinator certification and accredited trainer documentation and/or educational certification (AMA, Langevin, Nuclear Navy or equivalent) preferred. 3 to 5 years related technical training experience, such as training experience in an electrical utility organization, power systems training, US Navy nuclear training program or in a power plant training program
