District Manager at Poughkeepsie

Job Description

Harbor Freight Tools is looking for a District Manager to join our team.

The District Manager is responsible for the leadership and direction of assigned stores within their district. The goals for the District Manager include focusing on maximizing financial output for their assigned stores, successfully initiate new store growth, drive performance of existing stores and demonstrate operational execution. This encompasses customer growth, sales revenue, merchandise presentations, the ability to recruit/develop/retain talent and execution of all corporate initiatives by performing the following duties:

  • Provide management expertise of opening multiple retail stores in the designated district while maintaining the integrity and service of our existing outlets
  • Deliver the qualities to effectively open new stores right to a fast start while driving existing stores productivity and growth
  • Ensure district compliance to all company policies, directives, and operational standards
  • Professional aptitude with business skills and an ability to create solutions
  • Regularly review P&L statements with each Store Manager to ensure all controllable expenses are within company guidelines
  • Confirm timely implementation of company procedures for new hires, promotions, and all other status changes through routine communication with each Store Manager
  • Ensure strict compliance to all Federal, State, and Local laws with accurate record keeping of store personnel files
  • Train, mentor, and monitor new Store Managers to be effective and reliable representations of Harbor Freight Tools; recruit talent to become effective associates at the store level
  • Ensure all loss prevention communications are followed to maintain awareness of shoplifting issues and internal theft
  • Coordinate action plans with each Store Manager to execute shrinkage reduction programs
  • Monitor the results of store cycle inventories and store audits to ensure adjustments of any insufficiencies
  • Maintain compliance to all safety rules and regulations
You will be responsible for overseeing several multi-million dollar stores. this person is a role model and leader and will be a strong merchant with a thorough understanding of retail aesthetics and customers. They possess strong analytical skills and are effective problem solvers. They will ensure district wide customer satisfaction, and product quality, while managing the territorys financial performance, and managing safety and security with the district

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

The successful candidate will have at least 8+ years experience in store management and multi-unit hardline retail management. The District Manager will have a large geographical area including anywhere from 4-8 stores. Responsibility of leadership and direction to our Store Managers and Assistant Managers will be a daily requirement. You will be able to control shrink and operational imparities within the district. Training of management in customer service, merchandizing, driving sales, and increasing the bottom line profit will be some of the job requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and follow through are imperative for this position.

  • Candidate should have a strong fundamental knowledge of the area with which their territory resides.
  • Ideal candidates will possess District Manager experience from a big box retailer (home improvement/tool industry experience is a plus but not mandatory)
  • District Managers are expected to travel regularly whether by car or plane
