Assistant Internal Auditor at Oakdale

Job Description

The Suffolk County Water Authority is currently seeking an Assistant Internal Auditor. The successful candidate will report to the Oakdale Office, and will conduct financial, operational and compliance audits to assess effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, efficiency of operations and compliance with policies and procedures, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) with oversight from the Internal Auditor.

 

 

Job Requirements

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Analyze data for evidence of deficiencies in internal controls, fraud or lack of compliance with policies and procedures.

•  Prepare reports of findings and recommendations for the Internal Auditor and Management.

•  Assist in annual risk assessment process to identify control deficiencies.

•  Assist external auditors during the annual audit.

 

Qualifications:

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Management.

•  One to three years of work experience in internal/external auditing.

•  Valid Driver’s License.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•  Proficient in Internal Control Design.

•  Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel.

•  Strong analytical skills and systems knowledge.

•  Familiarity with IT systems.

•  Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

•  Work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision, and be adaptable to a changing work environment.
