Primary Duties: The Senior Database & Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for providing group database and systems support technical leadership and consulting, as well as group mentoring of engineering resources in a manner that best supports our customers needs and the organizations needs. Position Description (Essential Duties & Responsibilities):

• Provide SQLServer DBA services as required
  
• Meet with the business units to understand their technological needs, provide input to the Systems Architect and developers to help develop technology strategies that address those needs.
  
• Work independently and with small teams to build enterprise software systems and software solutions in a fast-paced demanding environment.
  
• Participate as technical lead in complex services and systems integration efforts.
  
• Provide systems and infrastructure consulting and support as needed
  
• Work on the scoping, approval, development, and implementation of software projects.
  
• Stay abreast of emerging software development technologies.
  
• Develop software solutions using industry and company best standards and practices.
  
• Consult with engineering teams on complex development efforts.
  
• Mentor technical staff in technology matters.
  
• Mentor junior engineering staff, assisting them in their growth towards a senior/leadership position.
  
• Support existing applications in production

Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Basic (Required)

• 3 years of professional experience as a SQLServer Database Administrator
  
• Strong technical skills
  
• Experience solving complex technical problems
  
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technology and non-technology staff
  
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Preferred

• 2 years of Systems Support
• 1 year of experience as a MySql programmer/DBA
• 2 years of Windows Server & IIS administration
• 2 years of Java or ASP.NET web development
• Working knowledge of NoSQL database technology
• Web farm management
• VMware administration
• Streaming media systems
• 4 year degree
