Backup Deployment Engineer at New York

Job Description

Job Classification: Direct Hire Our client a large financial institution in New York City is seeking a Backup Deployment Engineer. This individual will be responsible for Request Management and Project Execution of Backups as part of the Storage Service. This candidate will handle new backup setups, modifications to existing backups and removing existing backups for both servers and NAS shares via the request management process in addition to continuous service improvement and automation activities. They will be expected to proactively look for ways by which to improve the backup request management process and provide a more efficient and higher quality service to clients. Desired Skills: 3+ years of experience in storage products Backups & Restores:-Knowledgeable in Microsoft Windows, Sun Solaris, HP HPUX, IBM AIX-Proactively analyze problems searching for ways to mitigate future risk-Capable of acting as business liaison, translating business needs to technical requirements and providing point of contact to business during high impact incidents-Demonstrates leadership and independent problem solving-Advanced knowledge of multiple major vendor platforms-Advanced business continuity/resiliency knowledge Specific Storage Administration Expertise:-3+ years experience in distributed storage environments.-3+ years experience in an associated technology (Server, Networks).-Advanced experience configuring and deploying Symantec Products - NetBackup, Pure Disk.-Advanced experience with multiple host operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Redhat Linux, IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, HP HPUX).-Experience with IBMs TSM strongly preferred. Business Skills:-Good understanding of impact and importance of storage services to customers.
