Job Description
We are seeking a Safety and Training Manager for our school bus division, Reliant. The Safety and Training Manager will report to the General Manager and the primary responsibility is to promote a safe, reliable and efficient operating environment. Successful applicant will manage the safety program of local operations in compliance with State and Federal regulations and Corporate and Client policies.
Other Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for all classroom driver training and ensures that all drivers have met and remain current in all required areas as outlined in company policy and State/Federal law.
- Documents all training and determines when a driver has successfully met all requirements.
- Ensures that all drivers remain current in all licensing requirements.
- Responsible for the recruitment and pre-employment of new drivers.
- Processes all new-hire paperwork to include scheduling physicals, drug screens, criminal record checks and MVR review.
- They assist in administering the drug & alcohol program to include pre-employment screening, random testing, and testing for cause.
- Maintains an accurate testing log and D& A files.
- Conducts accident and industrial injury investigation as required.
- Completes accident and/or injury reports when required.
- Conducts all post-accident retraining and documentation.
- In addition, assurance of all retraining with employees is conducted in a timely fashion following an accident or unfavorable Road Observation/Check Ride.
- Conduct Road Observations and Check Rides, ensuring that all drivers receive them per company policy.
- Records training documents in the training file and a separate file for Road Observations and Check Rides.
- Assists in preparing and conducting the monthly safety meetings and accurately records all in-service training.
- Maintains all training records in an Inspection Ready" status at all times. Ensures the confidentiality of all records.
- Ensure that all drivers maintain the required safety equipment aboard their vehicles through training and random inspections.
- Will maintain the highest standards of excellence in appearance and attitude.
- Serve as a professional role model for BTW trainers and driver
- Conducts all Safety meetings
- Conducts all on-site facility monthly safety inspections
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- One year accident/injury free driving experience.
- Experience in school bus transit or equivalent experience acceptable to the City of New York.
- Previous school bus/passenger transportation in current or similar environment required.
- One year experience in designated position or closely related position.
- 19 CE, SBDI.
- CDL required.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- Possess leadership abilities.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Extended transportation experience.
- Experience teaching/instructing or public speaking experience.
- Computer experience.
- Excellent safety and service record.
