Job Description
Responsible for SQL Server database administration and development of Business Intelligence reports and applications. As a SQL DBA, duties may include: design, deployment and maintenance of both application vendor SQL Server databases and CNC databases including establishing and adhering to best practices of SQL Server maintenance and operation. Perform performance
monitoring and capacity planning functions. As a SQL Business Intelligence (BI) developer, duties may include: designing, building, and populating data objects such as SSAS cubes, relational dimensional databases, and SSAS data mining models. Also designing and building BI user interfaces such as dashboards and reports. As a BI DBA you administer the databases in the Data
Warehouse and manage the ETL processes that extract, transform and load data into the Data Warehouse and BI data objects. Duties may require off hours maintenance functions and support 24 x 7 operations when required.
Essential DBA Functions:
1. Installing, Configuring, Upgrading, and Patching of SQL Server instances
2. Perform database maintenance, tuning, and capacity planning on both OLTP and data warehouse databases
3. Establish, maintain, and monitor security implementation of SQL Server instances
4. Establish and maintain solid backup and recovery policies and procedures. Perform periodic restoration and disaster recovery tests.
5. Perform database server health monitoring to achieve maximum uptime
6. Analyze operational problems/issues and then identify and implement solutions
7. Create and maintain standards and procedures following best practices
8. Follow appropriate incident, problem, change management, and project processes
Essential BI Developer Functions:
1. Work with Lines of Business to identify the data needed for meeting business requirements
2. Design, plan, and deploy database objects for Business Intelligence use
3. Support Data Warehouse enhancement and operation
4. Develop, monitor, and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
5. Maintain the data dictionary and related meta-data stores
6. Create, configure, and administer databases in development, test, & production environments
7. Participate in the development of BI applications and solutions
8. Assist Lines of Business with the development and deployment of reports
9. Support the automated report generation, distribution, and archiving processes
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an Information Systems related curriculum and three years of equivalent IT related work experience.
MS SQL 2008 or 2012 experience required including:
SQL Database Administration
SQL Data Definition and Query Language, TSQL
SQL Stored Procedures
SQL Server Management Studio
The preferred candidate will have experience with one or more of the following SQL 2008/2012 components
SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio/SQL Server Data Tools
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
SQL Analysis Services (SSAS)
Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
Data Warehousing and ETL processing
OLTP and OLAP database modeling
Oracle Database knowledge
Visual Studio C#
Excellent PC skills required, including Microsoft Office
Proven adherence to standards and protocols including change management, code review, documentation, and testing
Proven ability to manage specific tasks as projects both independently and in teams as directed by management
Ability to interpret and implement detailed specifications
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills to work in a team environment and with end users
Familiarity with bank systems and operations a plus
