The Albany VA Medical Center is seeking a board eligible/certified Psychiatrist. The AlbanyVA is located in the beautiful Capital District of NY which boasts variety of culturalofferings and outdoor activities, excellent quality of life, good cost of livingand proximity to larger metropolitan cities including NYC, Boston and Montreal.
The incumbent will be primarily assigned to outpatient mental health services. He/she will be part of a multidisciplinary team being developed to improve access and integration of care for veterans. Skills that will likely prove useful include the ability to serve as a team leader and role model, well-honed assessment and triaging skills, the ability to contribute to initial evidence based multidisciplinary treatment plans, comfort with short term treatment models, liaison skills with primary care physicians, willingness to utilize telemedicine as a modality for assessment and treatment of rural clients, creativity and flexibility. We are affiliated with a major academic center and have significant responsibilities for the education of psychiatric residents. The incumbent will be joining a large highly skilled, committed and pleasant group of mental health professionals, including 10 to 12 psychiatrists.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Must be proficient in spoken and written English
Additional Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Possess ALCS and BLS certification
- Strong interpersonal skills
- One year of specialized experience at a level comparable to the work of this position that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Psychiatrist should be physically and mentally capable to perform the duties of the position. Physical activities include sitting, standing (up to 2 hours) walking (up to 2 hours), heavy lifting (45 pounds or over), reaching above the shoulder, and repeated bending.
