Job Description
Manage the daily activities of the revenue accounting department. Ensure compliance with applicable policies and reviews contracts to ensure that revenue is recorded in compliance with GAAP. Monitors the month-end revenue close. May assist in the preparation of SEC filings or interface with external auditors as needed. Familiar with a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Manage the world-wide revenue recognition functions and create policies and procedures to ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP
Establish a partnership with Sales to ensure that proper technical guidance is followed during the contract negotiation process
Review contracts, sales orders and purchase orders to assess proper revenue recognition accounting treatment
Perform fair market value analysis for multiple element arrangements
Ensure that all revenue recognition processes and procedures are up to date with the latest literature
Work with the External Auditors to ensure the company is compliant with the latest revenue recognition rules
Work with Accounts Receivable manager to ensure that the invoicing is in line with the contract deliverables
Manage, mentor and train a staff to ensure as new opportunities arise that staff are ready to take on new challenges
Support sales commission plan development, monthly calculation, and oversee the commissions paid to sales
Other special projects as the company continues to build its infrastructure around business needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
CPA required
8+ years of corporate accounting or public accounting experience with Big Four firm and SEC experience
Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition principles and ability to apply
Strong written skills and experience writing technical memos
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as part of a team
Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, problem solving, and follow through
Experience with Sarbanes Oxley internal controls a plus
