Job Description


Information Technology- Sr. Business Analyst

This role is responsible for driving outstanding customer satisfaction by providing analytical and technical support to the business communities through the development of solutions to business problems that help achieve strategic goals.  The desired candidate is expected to maintain a high level of productivity and work well in a team environment.  The employees primary responsibility will be to play a lead role to plan and implement workflow improvement, perform detailed data analysis with an eye toward business process re-engineering, and participate in data quality activities and KPI development and measurement.

Basic Functions: 

1.  Take a lead role in the strategic development, design and execution of a master enterprise roadmap focusing on business process improvement. Support the business units with prioritizing and quantifying process improvement opportunities. Identify strategic business drivers and operational process requirements. Support the business units with implementation and change management needs to ensure execution.

2.  Provide extensive process and data analysis to support various functional business units. This would include but not be limited to:  interfacing with individual business units; leading process mapping and other subject matter expert meetings; gathering requirements to define and document detailed data profiling, definition, and usage; and implementing process control plans to ensure ongoing benefits are realized.  

3.  Perform business process modeling activities in order to plan and execute process improvement workshops based on proven process improvement methodology. Support development of policy and procedure manuals and coordinate training efforts on proprietary systems and new workflows.

4.  Ensure proper documentation in all phases of project.  

5.  Identify opportunities to define, specify and deliver key enterprise data, reports and dashboards through the close support of the TMM Data Warehouse project.  Work closely with various strategic and functional business units to ensure key metrics are delivered for actionable and proactive decision making.

6.  Identify best practices as they relate to process improvement and metrics and execute implementation across applicable business functions.

7.  As necessary, provide process and analytical support for critical corporate initiatives, including service level standards and expense management, significant business area process improvement projects, and where applicable system migrations & consolidations. Responsible for consulting with business areas and IT project managers for development of implementation strategies.  

8.  Demonstrate a high level of subject matter expertise in functional areas supported to bridge business requirements and IT solutions.  Provide technical direction and ensure compliance with best practice solutions. 

9.  Help meet departmental goals; change management support and quality assurance in order to achieve corporate strategies and initiatives.  Provide back-up for others as necessary.

Job Requirements



Required Education and Experience:
" 4 year college degree, advanced industry- and area-specific certification preferred 
" 10+ years of extensive experience as a business analyst with focus on process improvement, data quality and systems life cycle methodologies; preferably in the P&C insurance industry
" Strong knowledge of workflow standards, concepts, and practices
" Experience with one or more proven process improvement methodologies
" Excellent communication skills; polished customer service and organizational skills; technical aptitude with a demonstrated appreciation for customer and client services
" Ability to be flexible, follow tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, organize and prioritize work
" Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams and interact at all levels; develop effective relationships and build consensus

Desired Experience:
" Experience in report development using Crystal Reports, Cognos or other reporting tool is a plus.
" In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Products 
" Requirements development and traceability techniques; design of test cases; familiarity with Rational products strongly desirable 
" Process Engineering using a recognized methodology like Six Sigma, Sarbanes-Oxley, CMM, PMI a plus. 
" Well versed in visual diagrams, use cases and UML;
