DISPATCHER

for our operations in Long Island City, NY

 

This position will be responsible to assign and dispatch drivers and/or chauffeurs to fulfill ground transportation reservations and requests.  Assign drivers and/or chauffeurs in a fair and equal manner based on vehicle type, schedule, and availability of driver and/or chauffeur.  Assist reservations with questions concerning rates and drive times.  Answer customer questions regarding schedule changes, availability of vehicles, and existing reservations.

Job Requirements

To be considered qualified for this position, a candidate must meet the following requirements:
Education:  High School Degree or GED
Experience:  At least 6 months experience in customer service or dispatching.

Skills:

  • Keyboarding skills with ability to type 30-40 wpm. 
  • Ability to use a calculator, operate PC software, and various office machines. 
  • Ability to operate Phone/Nextel radio equipment. 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • The ability to perform basic math and spelling functions. 
  • Positive interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions on a regular basis in high-pressure situations and know when to bring issues, questions, and problems to the manager.
