Our client, a leading international law firm, has an excellent opportunity for a Legal Training and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Coordinator. This position supports the Professional Development team and will also assist the Director of Legal Training. This individual needs to be bright, motivated, and have an interest in professional development and spearheading training initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Legal Training to gather and analyze information about the developmental and educational needs of associates in order to develop tailored training programs accordingly.
- Work closely with Professional Development team to incorporate feedback from and about lawyers into training initiatives.
- Develop and implement initiatives to publicize the Firm’s legal training resources and improve information-sharing among global offices.
- Organize and implement New Associate Orientation and Core Curriculum and other Core Skills trainings, including scheduling, securing meeting rooms, sending invitations, sign-in sheets, set-up, coordinating with catering, course materials and post-program logistics.
- Work with other CLE and Training personnel to improve the effectiveness of substantive legal training provided to attorneys.
- Assist in the preparation and collection of training materials.
- Coordinate weekly language classes at the Firm.
- Update and maintain PD Website and CLE Wiki, including posting daily training courses of interest, Core Curriculum training and New Associate Orientation materials.
- Work with lawyers and other CLE and Training personnel to implement client CLE seminars, in New York and outside of New York, including researching other state CLE rules and overseeing the administration of certificates of attendance in compliance with that state’s CLE rules.
- Develop and maintain expertise in New York’s CLE Rules and research other states’ CLE rules as needed.
- Communicate with New York-admitted lawyers regarding their CLE compliance and requirements for New York’s biennial bar registration.
- Monitor weekly arrivals and departures of lawyers and ensure that all relevant department files are updated to reflect statuses of current associates.
- Assist lawyers with their training needs and CLE requirements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Excellent interpersonal, client service, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Exercises good judgment, has excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proactive. Able to work independently, plan ahead, push projects forward and meet deadlines.
- Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment preferred.
- Must have an understanding of New York CLE requirements and rules.
- Experience with viDesktop a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
