Job Description
The Commercial Portfolio Manager is responsible for providing credit monitoring activity including, but not limited to, timely and accurate financial and credit analysis. This position works under the guidance of the CRE Portfolio Management Team Leader.
Principal Responsibilities (identify 4-7 major categories of work):
Responsible for the administration of an assigned portfolio combining either directly managed (PM-managed) or jointly managed (RM- managed) clients and loan portfolio. Priority always given to directly-managed assets. In the PM-managed portfolio, ensures that the team exercises all the duties and responsibilities as would be the responsibility of the relationship manager.
In the RM-managed portfolio, fosters and coordinates the joint management of clients with the assigned regional managers and relationship managers, Exercises primary responsibility for all monitoring related tasks and cooperates with the RM to foster business development.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, ensuring these responsibilities are complete:
Monitor loan delinquencies and maturities, and performs routine collections activities.
Manages/performs property inspections as required by policy
Tracks and spreads all required annual financial statements upon receipt
Prepares annual/ quarterly loan reviews as required by policy
Monitors/tracks all required escrows, undertaking and other structural requirements within covenants as required in the loan documents
Works with Loan Servicing to resolve any RE Tax, Insurance or other operational issues identified
Ensures sound underwriting of all PM-managed credit actions
Monitors assigned loan portfolio for early identification of potential problems and ensures that all loans are properly risk rated, works closely with Loan Resolution to administer problem credits
Participates in the analysis and administration of loans within the department in a timely and accurate manner to maintain efficient workflow.
Responsible for all on-going legal compliance requirements, monitoring and reporting. Services as primary contact with internal audit, loan review and regulators
Monitors relevant market tends in order to proactively identify emerging credit issues which may impact performance and prudently keeps management informed
Continually develops and maintains specialized knowledge of commercial products including loans, cash management, trade services products and deposits.
Identifies business opportunities within existing customer base. Meets production goals under the guidance of senior staff members and management
Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.
Job Requirements
College degree or equivalent work experience required.
Formal Credit Training preferred.
2-5 years relevant work experience.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to monitor loans and identify business opportunities in a highly completive and fast paced environment.
Demonstrate strong PC skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, internet and internal software.
Demonstrate use of good judgment, for example when determining best approach to financial and credit analysis of loans.
Ability to cultivate and foster relationships with customers.
Strong written, verbal, negotiation and presentation skills are need to achieve objectives in a professional environment.
