BorgWarnerCOST REDUCTION LEADER(ETC)
Manages all aspects of cost reduction across the organization to drive significant fiscal cost reduction for the Engine Timing Components facility. Provides leadership to cross functional teams accountable for product/process related cost reduction. Actively pursues current product/process cost reductions. This position has significant impact on the success of cost reduction for the Engine Timing Components facility. Directs, co-ordinates and manages all activities relevant to delivering fiscal cost reduction across multiple teams and is responsible for identifying and building a funnel of cost reduction ideas for execution over multiple years.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. This position leads continuous cost reduction initiatives within the cost reduction team and demonstrates leadership in recognizing the potential for cost reduction as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals.
2. The role includes identifying cost reduction opportunities, ensuring projects are defined and financially justified through creation of business cases, creation of sound ARs, launching project teams, use of project management skills to manage team activities, leading teams to execute projects, tracking project status and results, removing and elevating project barriers.
3. Drives collaboration among other functions and teams including Engineering, Operations, Quality, etc. and suppliers for successful cost reduction activities such as resourcing, process changes, negotiations and commercial agreements. In addition, the position will ensure that there is agreement with the manager(s) whose area(s) will be affected by the cost reduction activity.
4. Collaborate with Finance to ensure the cost reductions projects are properly valued, and to align the forecast with the timing and quantification of the impact of the cost reductions.
5. Responsible and accountable for the definition, development, implementation, training and effective use of methods and governance process to support cost reduction and to measure results.
6. Development and ongoing management and improvement of the cost reduction governance process including a Cost Reduction and Tracking database, leading weekly cost reduction team meetings and project meetings, management of monthly Leadership Cost Reduction Meetings, ensuring cost reduction business cases are presented to the management team for approval.
7. Participate in project reviews and provide point of contact for project leaders for problem resolution.
8. Creation of a pipeline of cost reduction ideas over multiple years.
Job Requirements
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree in a related discipline and generally 3 plus years experience in automotive industry purchasing field.
Program and project management experience is desirable but not required.
Have the ability to operate effectively through use of an influencing model in a matrix organization to achieve desired results.
Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications.
Have negotiation skills, financial analysis skills, cost analysis skills, program and superior problem solving skills, understanding of statistics, manufacturing, and general engineering.
Have strong communication, conflict management, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs concurrently.
Must be self-motivated and be able to motivate teams.
