SUMMARY
The Sales Event Manager is responsible for developing sales opportunities and securing business for catering and/or group rooms. The Event Manager identifies potential business opportunities, pursues viable leads, books business, and maintains client relationships. Special emphasis is placed on accommodating guest preferences, flexibility with work assignments, efficiency, quality, and social demeanor that contributes to a hospitable environment. Specific markets are to be determined. This is a full time exempt position with full benefits. Core hours are Monday - Friday; some weekend availability may be required.1-2 years related experience in a hotel or hospitality venue preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Uncovers and cultivates new sales opportunities

2. Participates in outside sales calls / blitzes
3. Manages events and integrates operations teams to successfully carry out the event.
4. Coordinates verbally and in writing with customers the details of an event with high level of detail and accuracy
5. Liaison between hotel and customer through the event sales process
6. Makes presence known to customer during the event
7. Available to solve problems, answer questions and/or suggests alternatives to previous arrangements.
8. Works with hotel in solving operational challenges
9. Involved with customer site inspections
10. Leads pre-event meeting for assigned groups

TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Knowledge of sales and catering forecasts
2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
3. Knowledge and practice of Standard Operating Procedures
4. Knowledge of Profit and Loss statements, budget creation, and line items
5. Knowledge of marketing and sales strategies and plan development and implementation techniques
6. Working knowledge of Delphi and Opera a plus
