Scientist - Food Laboratory

Responsibilities:

Work with Product Developers to allow developers to focus their attention on core responsibilities such as new product development, quality and cost improvement programs.

Relieve Product Developers of routine, process intensive tasks.

Materials and Supplies - Monitor inventory of finished products and ingredients in lab inventory, order and maintain supply

Lab Pilot Plant Work - Perform company standard analytical methods: Density, Flowability, Segregation, Dissolvability Maintain and calibrate Sympatec tool

Prepare product for qualitative and quantitative analysis, WinLims

Maintain lab and equipment cleanliness

Provide general assistance to Developers when requested

Shelf Life Testing - Initiate and administer shelf life studies

Assist in sample preparation, i.e. label and store product, schedule sample pulls and review sessions

Shipping - Prepare and ship ingredient and product samples to different sites, generate related documentation i.e. bioterrorism and customs forms.

Priority setting is expected to be handled by the coordinator and developers. When assistance is needed, the requestor must clearly define the expectations, timing, and priority for the assignment.

Requirements:

Associate or Bachelor s degree preferred, with 1+ years experience in the food industry

Strong computer-based skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

Good interpersonal skills, ability to interact with Product Developers, Pilot Plant personnel

Attention to detail and ability to compare prior results to current analysis for differences

Ability to learn clients internal computer systems: Outlook, etc.

Excellent organization skills

Ability to multi-task

Must be flexible with changing needs and possess good problem solving skills
