Leader External IncubationJob Description:
The Leader for External Incubation will be responsible for supporting innovation at MasterCard through the establishment and evolution of MasterCards external incubation approach. The focus of the external incubation team is to work with early stage startups to help them grow by providing advice, sharing expertise, and through direct investment.
The individual will play a key role in elevating MasterCards and MasterCard Labs reputation for innovation among all internal and external stakeholders through their involvement in external incubation. This role will also provide formal and informal support to external partners, early stage startups, the broader Labs team, as well as innovation-related functions across MasterCard to advance the innovation community.
Key Responsibilities
This position will play an integral role in establishing and managing the day to day engagement with early stage companies through two key responsibilities.
1. Operational Support for External Incubation
Integral member of External Incubation commerce accelerator pilot core team, including:
Development of overall pilot structure, approach, and key milestones
Help define evaluation criteria for potential participants
Create and launch online application platform
Track and complete initial evaluation of submissions
Support the selection process of program participants
Lead the ongoing management of program mentorship
Build and maintain dashboard of key program partners
Manage external and internal communication of program
Complete regular tracking of program performance
2. Visibility into Early Stage Landscape
Support External Incubation Lead in improving visibility and engagement with early stage companies:
Develop and maintain dashboard of commerce focused early stage companies
Track key trends and market announcements
Produce monthly reporting on early stage environment and key companies
Maintain calendar and attend key industry early stage events
Build direct relationships with selected early stage companies
Experience/Skills Required:
Self-starter able to own and execute actions with limited hand holding
Flexibility to adapt in an ever evolving environment
Fast mover, can turnaround deliverables quickly and on time
Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience including time at either a startup or VC
Excellent relationship management skills can work well with internal and external partners
Solid communication skills, comfortable interacting across all levels
Strong interest in emerging technology trends
Good knowledge of payments landscape
Familiarity of accelerator/incubator space preferred
Passion to help MasterCard further advance innovation
Education
Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or Technology
Advanced degree preferred but not required
Working Conditions:
20% travel required, primarily domestic
