Job Description

Job Overview:Perform all Software Engineering functions for Macys Merchandising Group (MMG); Agile Development, Implementation and SupportEssential Functions:- Designs and develops user intra/internet applications by setting expectations and feature priorities throughout development lifecycle; determining design methodologies and tool sets; completing programming using languages and software products; designing and conducting tests- Integrates applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers- Completes application development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms- Updates job knowledge by researching new intra/internet technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations- Enhances organizational reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments- Monitor application operational performance, escalate and direct as required- Uses independent judgment to supports the strategic vision within the functional area, implements operational policies and directives, communicates progress towards goals and objectives- Maintain regular contact with key business stakeholders, including customers and vendors to continuously realign priorities with real business needs- Provides world class customer service with an emphasis on courtesy- Regular, dependable attendance and punctualityQUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:- Bachelors Degree, 0-3 years of experience in software development.- Solid foundation in software programming and object oriented programming (for development rules)- Experience in Java, Java Applets, Java Script, JSP, Ajax and related Web Programming skills, Web Interface Design, Object Oriented Design, Oracle SQL or MS SQL highly desired.Language Skills:- Strong oral and written communication skillsReasoning Ability:- Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem solving environmentOther Skills:- Demonstrated eagerness to contribute in a team-oriented environment; either military or civilian- Demonstrated leadership potential in an educational or professional environment as it relates to building and supporting strong working teams; either military or civilian- Desire to work in an information systems environmentMacys is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
