Classification: Systems Programmer

Compensation: $60.00 to $70.00 per hour

Our financial services client in New York currently has an urgent need of a Financial Systems Engineer for a long term contract assignment.Primary Objectives: Design and implement various application components within a team - Validate overall application design and make sure that applicable technologies are being used Work closely with QA team to ensure high quality of the product Work with Business Analysts to come up with non-trivial optimal IT solutions for business problems Perform design and code reviews Establish best practices within a development team to make them more productive and efficient and mentor team members Assist in the evaluation of third party products to make buy vs. build decisions Develops, codes, documents and executes unit test, system, integration and acceptance test using different languages and testing tools for functions of high complexity training. Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of build, system testing and implementation phases of project. Develops master distribution lists, implementation and contingency plans ensuring verification is performed. Manages joint development, testing and plans and co-ordinates implementations Performs database/disaster recovery for entire system in different situations. Performs performance tuning to improve performance over multiple functions. Provides on-call support of applications, database, etc. particularly more complex situations.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills: Different programming languages (e.g. Java, C#, Visual Basic etc.) Multiple platforms (e.g. MS SQL Server, MS IIS Server) and ability to select appropriate one to meet business needs IT Standards, Methodologies, CMM & audit requirements Others (ex. MS- Reporting Service, MS-Integration Service, .NET 4.0 etc.) Ajax Visual Studio 2010 Business Knowledge: Financial services work experience. Moderate understanding of fixed income products. Leadership and Strategic Thinking Designs and implements solutions that can be reused in other projects or for similar purposes Focuses on making development for business components easier by ensuring stable and generic core components Actively contributes new ideas and different perspectives to solutions Ability to manage and work with offshore sources
