The VA Hudson Valley Health Care System is a multi-campus healthcare system located in Northern Westchester and Dutchess Counties with seven community-based clinics located in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan and Rockland counties. The VA Hudson Valley Health Care System, seeks a board certified physician (Physiatrist PM&R Progran Manager) to provide full time coverage in the Hospital Based Care Line to our veteran population. Physician works with multi-disciplinary team in performing duties.

The Hospital Based Care Line seeks a full time Board Certified Physician Program Manager with Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) supervisory and administrative experience.  The physician will provide patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to service excellence.  The selected physician will have clinical and administrative responsibilities in various PM&R clinics and will contribute to the achievement of patient satisfaction and quality of care standards.  Among those supervised by the PM&R Program Manager are physiatrists, audiologists, speech pathologist, physical therapists, occupational therapists and kinesiotherapists.   Strong administrative skills are preferred.  Selectee must be Board Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and must be proficient in the use of computerized systems related to patient care.  Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. The incumbent may be required to travel between the two main campuses and the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). This position may be eligible to apply for the Education Debt Reduction Program. Citizenship: Citizen of the United States or permanent resident. 

Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or of doctor of osteopathy from a college or university approved by the Secretary

Certification: Board Certified (or eligible if recent residency graduate) in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Residency: Residency trained in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Licensure: A current, full, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English is required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). 


Specialized Education:
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in Medicine of Osteopathic Medicine.  The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.  Approved schools are:

1. Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

2. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

3. Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory or commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.


You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to qualify for this position.

After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
