UX/UI designer at Albany

Job Description

Our client is passionate about creating and refining innovative new products that revolutionize the way people buy and sell online. Our goal is to create user-friendly products that improve our customers productivity and are essential to their job function(s). A well-designed product reinforces and strengthens their brand and accelerates the speed at which new users adopt our products. The UX/UI Designers role is to work with product managers, designers, and developers to create these products.

Specific Duties:

The UX/UI Designer is responsible for the following:

Data and observations. Youll translate research, evidence, analytics, and multivariate testing data into effective design decisions. Youre able to validate designs for ease of use and ability to meet business objectives.

Continual refinement and improvement. Youll develop tools and processes to constantly improve usability and create functional, simple solutions to complex issues. Youll develop user personas and scenarios to clarify results of user research and focus the teams design efforts on the needs of key users.

Creating and inventing. Youll use a broad toolkit of design methodologies to help guide the design and development process - sketching, wireframes, task flows, high-fidelity comps, and prototyping. You have a functional knowledge of the opportunities and limitations that come with web-based software delivered in HTML5 and CSS3.

Collaborating. Youll work closely with all relevant teams including software development, quality assurance, project leads, and marketing during the design and product development stages.

Presenting your work. You jump at the chance to share what youve done and can provide a strong rationale for the decisions you have made.

Requirements:

Successful candidates for the position must meet the following requirements:

Previous work experience in a research/design role for product development, or in a web agency setting. A degree in HCI, Interaction Design, or related field is preferred.

Demonstrated understanding of web design best practices and usability principles.

A portfolio that demonstrates an ability to design clean, modern, inspiring pixel-perfect interfaces across differing browsers and devices.

Solid understanding of the capabilities of HTML5 and CSS3.

Experience using different development methodologies, including Agile.

Able to work autonomously, and multi-task in dynamic environments.

Exceptional collaborator, communicator (written and verbal), and influencer.

Passion for excellence and a keen appreciation for the details that make up a great experience.

Listening, questioning, curiosity, and empathy. You gain satisfaction from taking on other peoples problems and finding ways to help them achieve their goals.
