Senior Circulation Planning Analyst at Melville

Job Description

The Senior, Circulation Planning Analyst is responsible for supporting the circulation leadership in circulation revenue and distribution/operations planning and analysis including strategic planning and analysis, metrics reporting, contractor selection and renewal processes, communication, and management of distribution supplies inventory. He/she will partner and interact with the Finance, Marketing, Packaging, Transportation, and Information Technology departments on a regular basis. Responsibilities will also include managing vendor settlements/credits and vendor communication channels.

Provide circulation revenue planning, analysis, and reporting support for strategic direction. Analyze circulation pricing opportunities and impacts. Develop and maintain home delivery service, single copy sales, and other metrics reporting. Analyze distribution expenses and regulate single copy draw via algorithms. Plan single copy draw reductions and/or increases for holidays. Manage distributors settlements including rates and adjustments. Manage distribution supplies inventory. Plan the financial budget for circulation department accounts and provide monthly variances explanations. Manage independent distributors agreements to ensure they are current and complete. Prepare and calculate distributor incentive payouts and scorecards. Manage communication of additional products for independent distribution. Support the Director of Circulation to maintain an even and consistent flow of information between circulation management and other departments within the company. Create and maintain an open relationship between departments within the company to assure circulation revenue, home delivery distribution, and single copy sales issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. Monitor workflow processes and policies for SOP compliance. Perform ad hoc analysis upon request.

Job Requirements

Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management and 4 years of analytical/planning experience. Analytical skills to produce revenue analysis and reporting, metrics reporting, vendor settlements, and inventory supplies management. Problem solving abilities and customer service skills. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills are required. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. The ability to prioritize and handle competing demands. Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a deadline driven environment with changing priorities. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of running Business Objects reports. Knowledge of running, creating, and debugging macros within Excel. Knowledge of the inner-workings/culture of Newsday a plus.
