Cisco Certified Network Professional at New York

Job Description

We are looking for a Cisco Certified Network Professional to work with the Network Communications Unit in the IT Division.

 

The Network Professional will primarily be responsible for administering the agency’s network infrastructure at our Brooklyn and Long Island City sites. The network infrastructure is monitored, modified, upgraded and maintained on a continuous basis. The Network Professional will monitor and diagnose problems related to the components of the network systems as well as continually evaluating the systems performance.

The Cisco Certified Network Professional will work under the supervision of the Network Communications Unit Manager or the Unit Supervisor to provide network support and design recommendations.

Duties will include

Perform network support and analysis in a multi-site environment focused primarily on Cisco routers and switches (IOS & NX-OS), Cisco Firewall ASA, Cisco Intrusion Prevention System and Cisco Secure Access Control System.

Independently troubleshoot LAN/WAN networking problems at all layers.

Manage and maintain network add/move/changes across the enterprise.

Conduct network studies and performance analysis, and recommend changes.

Work with the Network Communications unit, vendor support and other support teams as needed to resolve issues.

Assist the Network Communications unit in developing a platform strategy.

Work with the Network Communications unit to develop and maintain network documents and procedures.

Participate in the design of new projects as needed.

Perform scheduled proactive network testing to ensure network is functional and reliable.

The Cisco Certified Network Professional must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Work after business hours and on weekend may be required from time to time.

Job Requirements

1. Mandatory Experience and Skills: candidates must meet all the requirements below to be considered for the Certified Network Professional position.

5 years of experience working on Cisco Network platforms

Operational experience with Cisco networking and security – routers, switches, IPS, ACS and firewalls.

Operational experience with Cisco storage networking – MDS and Nexus switches

Knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSec, HSRP, and SNMP protocols.

Knowledge of FCP, FCoE, and FICON protocols.

Knowledge of VoIP, SCCP, SIP, H323, G711, G721, G726, and G729 protocols.

Knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF.

Knowledge of VLANs, IP subnets, routing, switching, access lists and traffic shaping.

Knowledge of Windows Operating System

At least one (1) of the following certifications is required:

o Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert; any of the following:

Routing & Switching

Security

Data Center

o Cisco Certified Network Professional; any of the following:

Routing & Switch

Security

Data Center

2. Preferred Experience and Skills:

Prior experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Senor Security Engineer.

Prior and proven experience in Cisco technologies with a focus on network security.

Knowledge of Linux operating system

Knowledge of Avaya Platform and Infrastructure

3. Assumptions Regarding Consultant Tasks and Deliverables

The Cisco Certified Network Professional shall provide services for ongoing Network operations. The following descriptions and deliverables shall apply:

Role:

o Implement and support Cisco and Avaya network technologies and components.

o Work within an environment governed by Change Management Procedures and Policies, a Configuration Management Database, and Incident/Problem Management Processes.

o Be self-motivated.

o Work independently or as a senior team member as required by each project.

Objective:

o Ongoing network support as detailed by the duties listed above.

Deliverables:

o Manage and update existing network infrastructure.

o Configuration management of networking equipment.

o Provide Project Management with status updates and target delivery schedules on network project tasks.

o Perform network troubleshooting.

o Produce comprehensive quality documentation on all aspects of the network updated.
