Junior Industrial Engineer, Kimber Mfg., Inc. Elmsford, NY

Kimber Mfg, Inc, a rapidly growing and leading manufacturer of fine sporting firearms with different plant locations in NY and NJ, has an immediate need for an experienced

Junior Industrial Engineerlocated in our Yonkers NY location.

Responsibilitiesinclude:

Apply Industrial Engineering theory and principles to improve manufacturing productivity.

Communicate with supervisors as well as operator level employees to gather, filter and integrate information from different sources to recommend fixes and/or improvements to obtain productivity and efficiency gains.

Help drive process optimization efforts in the form of time and motion studies, establishment of process routings and standards, cost reductions, flow manufacturing techniques and processes with consideration for quality, safety and ergonomics..

Recommend revision to methods of operation, material handling, equipment layout, or other changes to improve production, quality and safety. Provide manufacturing floor support to correct processing issues and promote continuous improvement initiatives.

Will be required to possess excellent analytical skills, problem solving and communication skills.

Will work in conjunction with Quality in performing Process Capability studies to ensure the process is capable and in control.

Required Minimum Education:

Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or another related technical discipline.

Required Work Experience:

One or more years of experience in the areas of time and motion study, methods, and flow analysis involved in production and other operations to establish standard production cycle times and improve efficiency.

Knowledge of Lean Mfg. Methods (Waste Elimination (Muda), 5S, Standard Work, Root Cause Analysis, TPM, Takt Time, VSM, Flow, Line Balance, SMED, Mistake Proofing, Employee Involvement, Kaizen).

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly, finishing and machining.

Conceptual knowledge with the techniques related to Process Capability analysis.

Desired Experience:

Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma utilizing continuous improvement tools (SPC, CP(k), DOE, ANOVA, etc.). Familiar with TPS.

Experience in developing visual and written procedures and work instructions and hands-on floor orientation.

Knowledge interfacing with Visual Mfg. or other ERP system.

Familiar with use of SPC software, Minitab or equivalent.

Familiar with systems engineering and mathematical modeling.
